Frequently Asked Questions
What is EXIF data?
EXIF is metadata embedded in photos by cameras and phones — including GPS coordinates, device model, date taken, and camera settings.
How does this tool remove metadata?
We redraw the image pixels onto a new canvas and export a fresh file. The new download has no embedded metadata. Your original photo on your device is never changed — you save the cleaned copy separately.
What is an ICC color profile?
ICC data tells apps how to display accurate colors. It is not GPS or camera privacy data. When possible, we copy the ICC profile into your export so colors stay consistent.
Why can previews look slightly different?
JPEG re-encoding may change compression slightly. Pixel dimensions stay the same; both previews are centered in the same frame.
Is the image uploaded?
No. Metadata is read and removed entirely in your browser. The list of detected fields is shown locally and never sent to any server.
